Personal Instruction:
Personal instruction is a worthwhile investment of time and funds when a student has a specific technique they would like to learn, or a specific project that is not covered by one of our classes, or if the schedule of classes does not fit with their personal schedule. It is also a good avenue for education when the student requires a greater level of instructor attention or supervision than can be offered in a group setting.
The hourly rate of instruction ranges from $35 to $60 per hour depending on the level of difficulty and the instructor. This rate is about double the hourly cost of attendance in our group classes.
Terre Morrison, of Morrison Woodworking Vermont specializing in furniture-making and woodworking projects, is available at a rate of $35 per hour. We can also make arrangements for private instruction with members of the Guild of Vermont Furniture-Makers at a rate of $60 per hour.
The total cost of a private course will be determined by the number of weeks it takes to complete the class. The cost will be charged weekly in advance of instruction. It is the responsibility of the student to work with the instructor to estimate the length of time it will take to complete a project.
Students are also encouraged to consider our project class, Beyond the Basics.
For project-related instruction rather than technique-related instruction students are strongly recommended to couple instruction with a Community Membership to ensure plenty of independent time to work on the project to make the instruction time financially worthwhile.
