The Vermont Woodworking School is located in the scenic Smuggler’s Notch Valley, in the heart of the Green Mountains.  Whether you are staying with us in our farmhouse, or at a nearby lodging establishment, no matter the season, opportunities for exploring your surroundings and the outdoors abound.

Students coming from afar will find many reasons to consider bringing along traveling partners.  If your significant other would prefer a cooking class to woodworking, they are encouraged to do so at the Essex, Vermont’s culinary resort.  The Essex also boasts a world-class spa and children’s playground.

There are plenty of shopping antiquing and dining opportunities right in this area.  In our immediate area we have a local coffee roaster, Brown & Jenkins, offering great coffee and a wireless cafe; the Boyden Winery where you can partake in wine tasting, and enjoy sugaring demonstrations in the spring; and the Cambridge Village Market for your necessities.

For students bringing the whole family, and for all outdoor enthusiasts, we are located just fifteen minutes from Smuggler’s Notch ski resort, offering some of the best skiing, riding, hiking and mountain biking Vermont has to offer.

We are a short fifteen minutes from Underhill State Park where you will find a trailhead to Mt. Mansfield, Vermont’s highest peak.   For more breath-taking scenery, a trip to the nearby Northeast Kingdom is warranted.  We are directly on a Vermont Association of Snow Travelers (VAST) trail open for your use for snow-shoeing, cross-country skiing or snowmobiling.  We are located on the Lamoille River, and we have plenty of land to explore just out our back door.

There are plenty of dining and entertainment establishments in our area including 158 Main, The Bee’s Knee’s, and the Hub.   Shoppers will enjoy the countless antique shops in the area and might enjoy a day trip over the mountain to Stowe or to Burlington.

We are located 40 minutes from Burlington and Burlington International Airport (BTV),
