Total immersion woodworking program, classes and workshops in the Green Mountains.

Our shop is located on the first and second floor of a three-story, 15,000 s.f. historic barn.  The barn was built in the late 1800’s at the peak of Vermont’s early dairy industry.  It is a high-drive barn with beautiful post and beam architecture.

The spacious barn has been renovated to house a new workshop, bench room, office, lumber storage, finish room and gallery.  All the original beams have been restored to preserve the historical value of the structure and give a warm comfortable feeling in the shop.

The shop is equipped with plenty of machinery, and countless hand-tools and router bits for student use.

On the main floor, students work on a radiant heat floor at their own bench, away from the noise of the mill room.  The finish room, adjacent to the bench room is equipped with a well-sized exhaust system to ensure good air quality.  The back wall of the finish room is part of the original stone foundation of our barn.

The second floor of the shop contains the gallery for display of student work, and pieces made by members of the Guild of Vermont Furniture Makers.  Adjacent to that is the gallery classroom.  The second floor also houses the lathes, library and an upholstery room.

The third floor of the barn features beautifully restored post and beam architecture and is being preserved for future use.
