** Please note that we are requiring all students to quarantine for at least 7 days and send us a negative Covid test result before coming to our campus and moving in.

Nearby and on-site housing is available on a first-come, first-served basis to students enrolled in the semester-based programs at Vermont Woodworking School. VWS does not manage housing but coordinates housing placements and invoicing. Housing is managed by the individual property owners.

In the event that we run out of rooms on-site, given enough notice, we do our best to place students in apartments and rooms in Fairfax or the neighboring communities of Cambridge and Jeffersonville.  In order to ensure we have created successful communities in each of the individual housing units (silos, farmhouse, off-site apartment) all room assignments are subject to change up until the start of the semester.

While living in this housing, students have access to shared kitchens, baths, and wireless internet. Students prepare their own meals and coordinate with housemates on general housekeeping. On-site housing units are equipped with a washer and dryer. The nearby apartments are very close to a coin-op laundromat.

All are furnished with the basics including a bed, an overhead light or table lamp, a bed-side table, a dresser, and sometimes a closet. You will need to bring your own sheets, pillows, towels and toiletries.  You are also encouraged to bring items to personalize your room. The kitchens are equipped with basic items including pots, pans, dishes, cups. glasses and utensils, In addition to bringing food, you may also want to bring personal items for the kitchen (i.e. coffee maker).

There are two general stores within three miles of VWS where you can pick up food, toiletries, etc. Larger grocery stores are located 15-30 minutes away from campus.
