Workshops at VWS
Join us in the shop!
Our short-term workshops open the barn up to anyone interested in trying a different craft, or looking to hone their skills with the support of our instructors.
The majority of our workshops are scheduled during the summer, between June-August, though we may have more turning classes throughout the rest of the year.
If you'd like an update when we post our next round of classes, please feel free to subscribe to our email list!
Turning Workshops

Intro to Turning
In this three-day turning workshop, students will be introduced to the proper and safe use of woodturning lathes and practice both spindle-turning and faceplate (bowl) turning. Students will be introduced to common turning tools, and will learn how to use and sharpen them properly. Example projects include: honey dippers, candle sticks, rolling pins, and wooden bowls. Each day runs from 10 am to 5 pm, with an hour break for lunch. We provide all the materials and PPE you need, so come with sturdy shoes & clothes you don't mind getting dusty. If you already have some tools, feel free to bring them if you'd like advice on sharpening or reshaping them.
