Financial & Merit Scholarships

New and Returning Students

Vermont Woodworking School offers the following scholarships to eligible Immersion students. Financial need-based scholarships of up to $750 and merit scholarships of up to $500. Students may apply for each semester that they attend classes.

Please note that we cannot process scholarship applications without an accompanying Immersion application. If you have not already done so, please head to our application page to fill out that form, thanks!

Birdseye Builders Scholarship for Underrepresented Woodworkers

New  & Returning Students

Presented by Birdseye, an award-winning builder & architecture company located in Richmond Vermont, this scholarship is intended to support future woodworkers who are traditionally underrepresented in the field.

Please note that this scholarship is awarded during or after the first week of the semester.

Guild of Vermont Furniture Makers Scholarship

Returning Students

The Guild of Vermont Furniture Makers is offering an annual $500 scholarship to a student who satisfies the following criteria:

​

  • Applicants must be full-time students who have completed at least one full (15-week) semester in the VWS Immersion program or one year in a degree program offered through Northern Vermont University.

  • Applicants need to have demonstrated financial need (student must qualify for the VWS Financial Scholarship).

  • Preference will be given to students interested in pursuing a career in woodworking.

  • This scholarship will be granted in August 2024.

Fuerstman Scholarship

Capstone Students

This scholarship celebrates the work of a current VWS student who has completed their chairs semester and is planning to continue into a Capstone project.

The recipient of this scholarship will receive $500 towards their next semester's tuition, and their chair will be displayed at Preventive Medicine in Colchester, VT, for six months.
